How to use
Press "Start recording" and choose what to record (the whole screen, a window or a tab).
When you are done, press "Stop recording".
Watch it, then press "Save" to save the video (screen-recording.mp4).
Questions
Is my recording sent anywhere?
No. Recording and making the video both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after a recording starts.
Can I use it on a phone or a tablet?
No. The browsers of phones and tablets cannot record the screen. Use Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer.
Can it record the sound?
Choose "Record the sound too", start, and share the sound in the browser's window: the sound of a tab or of the computer is recorded. Some browsers and choices (the whole screen, a window or a tab) give no sound. The microphone is never recorded.
How long can a recording be?
Up to 30 minutes at a time. At 30 minutes, recording stops by itself.
In which format is it saved?
MP4 (H.264 picture, AAC sound). Browsers that cannot record MP4 (such as Firefox) save WebM, and the tool says so.
Are notifications and passwords recorded too?
Everything shown on the screen or window you choose is recorded as it is. Close what should not be seen first, or record a single window or tab.
Is the recording kept anywhere?
No. Until you save it, it is only in this page, and it is gone when the page is closed.
What is the saved file called?
"screen-recording.mp4" ("screen-recording.webm" for WebM).
Limits
- Works in browsers on computers (recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari). Phones and tablets cannot be used.
- A recording can be up to 30 minutes long.
- Browsers that cannot record MP4 save WebM. WebM may not play on iPhones and in some apps.
- Everything shown on what you choose is recorded as it is, notifications included.
- We cannot protect against things in your own environment, such as browser extensions.
