Questions
Is my PDF sent anywhere?
No. Reading the PDF and making the images both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose a file.
Should I choose JPEG or PNG?
JPEG suits pages with many photos and makes smaller files. PNG keeps text and lines sharper, but makes larger files.
Which resolution should I choose?
150 dpi is enough to view or send, and 300 dpi suits printing. An A4 page becomes 1,240 × 1,754 pixels at 150 dpi, and 2,480 × 3,508 pixels at 300 dpi.
What happens to very large pages?
Phones and other devices can only draw images up to a certain size (about 16.7 million pixels). A page larger than that is made at the highest resolution that fits, and the tool tells you that resolution.
The text looks different from the original.
Text in fonts that the PDF does not include is drawn with the fonts of this device, so it may look different. Save the PDF again with its fonts included (embedded) in the app that made it, and the text keeps its shape.
Do the images carry the author or other details of the PDF?
No. The images hold only the picture of each page. The author, title, dates and similar details of the PDF are not put in.
What are the saved files called?
They are named by the page number in the PDF, such as page-3.jpg. Two or more are saved together in pdf-pages.zip. The original file name is not used.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It needs a recent browser (an older one shows a message that it cannot run the tool). On an iPhone, ZIP files open in the Files app. Inside apps such as LINE, saving may not work. If so, open the page again in Safari or Chrome.
