Convert sound files
Makes sound, or the sound of a video, into an MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG file. It also makes MP3 from MP4 videos, and converts up to 20 files at once. The files are processed only on this device.

Questions
Are my files sent anywhere?
No. Reading and converting the files both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose a file.
Can I make MP3 from an MP4 video?
Yes. When you choose an MP4, MOV or WebM video, only its sound becomes MP3 or another format. The picture is not included.
Which format and quality should I choose?
If unsure, MP3 at 192 kbps. Almost every device plays it, and it sounds good. To keep the quality the same, choose FLAC (lossless) or WAV.
Does a higher bit rate make an MP3 sound better?
No. Sound that was compressed once does not get its quality back at a higher bit rate or as WAV. Making MP3 into MP3 or M4A again loses a little quality.
Do song titles and album pictures stay?
No. The new files hold only the sound. Song titles, artists, album pictures and other information are not copied. The files are named like "audio.mp3", never with the original names.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. It takes longer than on a computer, and a file can be up to 2 hours. Please keep this screen open while it works. In browsers that cannot make M4A and OGG, those two cannot be chosen. Inside apps such as LINE, saving may not work. If so, open the page again in Safari or Chrome.
Limits
- It reads MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG (Opus, Vorbis) and WebM, and the sound of MP4, MOV and WebM videos. AMR, WMA, APE and some other formats cannot be read.
- MP3, AAC, Opus and Vorbis are read with the browser's own features, so some browsers cannot read them (the tool says so when such a file is chosen). In browsers that can only read sound at once (Safari 18 and earlier on iPhone, for example) and for Vorbis, the limit is about 12 minutes on iPhone and iPad, about 24 minutes on Android and about 48 minutes on computers (in stereo at 44.1 kHz).
- M4A and OGG can be chosen only in browsers that can make them (Chrome, Edge and others). M4A offers only the bit rates that the browser can make (up to 192 kbps in Chrome on Windows; other devices may differ).
- MP3 takes only 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz, M4A 44.1 and 48 kHz, and OGG (Opus) 48 kHz; sound at other rates becomes a near rate. Sound of 3 channels or more becomes stereo in MP3, M4A and OGG.
- Up to 20 files at once. A file can be up to 4 GB and 12 hours on computers, and up to 2 GB and 2 hours on phones and tablets. New files can be up to 500 MB on iPhone and iPad, 1 GB on Android, and 4 GB on computers and other devices (1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes).
- Longer files take longer. Please keep this screen open while the tool works.
- Saved as MP3, the sound starts after about 0.024 s of silence in some players (a matter of how MP3 works). For an exact length, or joins without a gap, choose WAV or FLAC.
- We cannot protect against things in your own environment, such as browser extensions.
- The work is done on this device, so how long it takes depends on how powerful the device is. On an older phone, it can take several times as long as on a computer.
